Connecting the European Commission during Coronavirus Global Response conference

The European Commission is a governing institution of the European Union, responsible for representing the EU on a global level, proposing legislative changes, and implementing policies. Simultaneous interpretation has always been at the core of the European Commission since it is determined to connect the EU Member States that all speak different languages. In the wake of the COVID-19 in 2020, the European Commission needed a solution for fully remote interpretation to unite the Member States and other nations in a multilingual conversation on pandemic prevention.

About the event

As a part of Coronavirus prevention efforts, the European Commission aimed to collect 7.5B euros in pledges during the Coronavirus Response conference to protect the disadvantaged and support Gavi, a vaccine alliance. 


With strict pandemic regulations in place, the leaders of more than 40 nations worldwide, including the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzō Abe, and the American philanthropist, Melinda Gates, had to unite against Coronavirus digitally. That meant having a solution with high-quality audio and video and the ability to connect on-site interpreters with remote participants.
